I love using warm metals in my interiors, gold, antique brass and bronze are my favourites. Warm metals like these work well with warm colours like browns, rich greens and reds while the cooler tones go with cooler hues like white, blue, and grey.

If you struggle with using metallic accessories, this tip can to help make an entire space feel cohesive once it’s fully decorated and furnished.

Alternatively, a mix of tones can sometimes work together to create a different, eclectic look - so you can decide whether you mix or match! ✨

Creating temporary office spaces in unused corners at home - a simple frame desk and shelving unit used in a bedroom as a place to work, but that can easily transition into a dressing table and storage area.

Putting together some styling schemes today after receiving requests to help with finishing touches in a couple of spaces. Searching for the perfect pieces to bring a scheme together and finding some fab pieces along the way!

House & Garden featured this image of mine on their page today - and it’s reminded me how great this project was! An old mechanics garage converted into a 4 storey town house in London, and being involved in the renovation, interior design and providing all of the bespoke furniture was amazing!

It had some really quirky features and the space required a lot of thinking and problem solving to get it right - but it turned out so well - and includes some of my favourite pieces. The bespoke curved sofa taking the first place prize 🤎

I’m surrounded fabric samples today - and any designer will tell you that the little pieces that come off the edges of the samples get absolutely everywhere! In your eyes, up your nose and mostly floating around in your cup of tea..... but it’s all worth it as I am planning some lovely schemes with some really beautiful fabrics. Here is a close up shot from a previous project of some all important fabrics made into some simple, but statement bed cushions 💙🤍🖤

Scheming with blue today - one of the most versatile colours in my opinion! Can be warmed up when paired with oranges and mustards or kept cool with greys and greens - making it a good neutral base for furniture.

What do you think of blue? 💙 (00’s boyband opinions aside....)

I’ve been designing some lovely fitted joinery today, something that always completely transforms an interior - and a practical way of using every bit of (often awkward) space whilst being a beautiful addition to a room. This bookcase was made with sliding doors at the bottom because the space was too tight to have doors swinging open - and swipe to see the matching fitted desk on the opposite side of the room, designed with a cupboard to hide away the printer, which pulls out on a shelf inside.

All hand made and painted, completely bespoke to the scheme, and with @busterandpunch handles for that perfect finishing touch 💙✨

Lots of planning and working on the details this week, with some exciting projects in the pipeline it’s getting busy here at JCD!

Beautiful velvet headboard in a bold mustard yellow - working so well within the neutral scheme of this JCD bedroom design. One of my favourite materials to work with, I don’t think you can beat the richness of the colour from velvet fabric 💛

• LEADING INTO 2021 •

Received the news today that I’ve been awarded the title of ‘Leading Interior Designer in Berkshire, 2021’ by the Design and Build Awards.

I am so, so, chuffed and as ever, extremely grateful that I get to do this job that I love so much. I will continue to work hard to prove my new title and am really looking forward to all that 2021 is bringing!

(Also very grateful for any occasion which means I can open celebration bubbles....🥂)

Been selecting tiles for a client today - and going for similar vibes to the main bathroom at home - neutral, warm and natural tones for a timeless look. These @mandarinstoneofficial honed marble tiles (that you can see in the mirror reflection) are so beautiful, and give such a soft feel to a bathroom.

Going to have about 3 baths a day to make the most of this space before we move .... 🤍
